Through the Rain and Storms
Scripture: “Then I said to you, ‘Do not be shocked, nor fear them. The LORD your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD, your God carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way which you have walked until you came to this place.” Deuteronomy 1:29-31
Thought: This morning, I was listening to Jeremy Camps song, You Never Let Go. This song makes me think of the rainy days and storms of life. There is a drop here and a drop there, then the rain comes down harder and faster and then it just starts to pour. The storms seem to happen a lot in my marriage; the storms of finances, children, in-laws, careers, illness. In the midst of the pouring rain, in the middle of the storm of this life, I know my God is near me and will never let me go. I can believe God for great things. I love Jeremy Camps song, “… Oh no, You never let go, through the calm and through the storm, Oh no, You never let go, In every high and every low, Oh no, You never let go, Lord, You never let go of me….” In Deuteronomy, Moses tells the stories of Our Caring Father who carried his people through the wilderness, and said “Don’t be afraid”, “Don’t be shocked”. In the storms God demonstrates parental love and care, and he will carry us home to safety. Perhaps this is the eve of the most important day of your life; a new career, marriage, surgery, moving far away to a strange place, a day of mourning by death or retirement. Maybe you are simply facing a new challenge or direction in life. Whatever it is, tomorrow will be the dawn of a new day, a new life, and it is filled with uncertainties. BUT, one thing is for certain, God will prepare you to face any storm and any new challenge you might encounter.
Action: Remember a time God carried you through a storm in His arms and to safety. Like a daddy, he said, “I love you Son/Daughter, we’re going to make it.” Are you walking or dancing in the rain? Don’t wait for it to pass, dance in the midst of the message that He is teaching you. Ask for His help, Seek the lesson He is teaching you. Knock and he will carry you through. Always reflect and remember when, while you’re dancing in the rain.
Prayer: Lord, I will ask, seek and knock through the rain and through the storms, every high and every low, I know you’ll never let go of me. I believe you will carry me through to great things for you.
